This research is aimed to prove the correlation between arm muscle strength and

short serve ability in badminton; the correlation between hand eye coordination and

short serve ability in badminton; the correlation between wrist flexibility and short

serve ability in badminton; the correlation of arm muscle strength, hand eye

coordination and wrist flexibility on short serve ability in badminton. The research

method used quantitative and research type was correlational involved three

independent variables, namely arm muscle strength, hand eye coordination and

wrist flexibility, while the dependent variable was short serve ability in badminton.

The population were students of Penjaskesrek at STKIP YPUP Makassar with 30

students as sample who were taken by simple random sampling. The data analysis

technique was the correlation coefficient. The results showed that: 1) There was a

significant correlation between arm muscle strength and short serve ability in

badminton with a value of r = 0.723; 2) There was a significant correlation between

hand eye coordination and short serve ability in badminton with a value of r = 0.759;

3) There was a significant correlation between wrist flexibility and short serve

ability in badminton with a value of r = 0.753; 4) There was a significant correlation

of arm muscle strength, hand eye coordination and wrist flexibility together on short

serve ability in badminton with a value of R = 0.898.
