Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities and learning outcomes through the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach to seventh grade students of SMP Tunas Harapan. This research was carried out in 2 cycles, the first cycle consisted of 4 meetings and the second cycle consisted of 4 meetings. The instrument used in this research is a test instrument to measure mathematical reasoning ability and student learning outcomes, as well as student response questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that the average score of the overall indicators of students' mathematical reasoning in the first cycle was 56.41% and increased in the second cycle to 86.74%, the average value of student learning outcomes in the first cycle reached 49.38 with a standard deviation of 17 .64 and increased in the second cycle that is 87.46 with a standard deviation of 10.42. Completeness obtained by students in the first cycle with a percentage of 23.07% then increased in the second cycle with the percentage of students who completed 92.3% so that classical completeness was met. In this study, it was concluded that learning activities with the CTL approach could improve the reasoning abilities of seventh grade students of SMP Tunas Harapan.
