Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the effectiveness of implementing Talking
Stick learning model by using discussion method on Math learning for the eighth-
grade students of SMP YP PGRI 4 Makassar. This research employed pre-
experimental method. The population of the research was the eighth-grade
students. The sample consisted of 23 students. Technique of data analysis was
descriptive analysis using gain. The result of data analysis showed that the result
of pre-test was low as indicated by the average score was 63.26 with deviation
standard was 12.054. While the result of the test after implementing the Talking
stick method was 82.35 with deviation standard was 4.628 as categorized good.
Students’ response was very high category, while students’ activity was in good
category. While t test showed significant improvement from pre-test to post-test
with n-gain was 0.458 as categorized fair. Based on the data analysis, it can be
concluded that implementing talking stick learning model was effective on Math
learning.
