Abstrak

This research was aimed to improve to students’ mathematical reasoning ability through Open Ended learning model. This research was classroom action research(CAR). It was carried out in 2 cycles, the first cycle concisted of 4 meetings and the second cycle consisted of 4 meetings. The instrument used in this study was a cycle test to measure mathematics reasoning abilities, student responses questionnaiers to learning mathematics, and guidelines for observing the implementation of learning. Data from observations, test and queastionnaires were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively which was strengthened by the results of the documentation. The subjects in this study were class VIIIA students of SMP YP PGRI 4 Makassar, totaling 17 participants. The results showed that there was an increasing point from cycle I to cycle II after learning with Open Ended learning model. This shown from the average value in the first cycle was 65.15% from 100 and the completeness of students’mathematical reasoning abilities was 46.15% and that the end of the second cycle it increased to 65.65% from 100 with completenes of students’ mathematical reasoning abilities was 80.29%. The standard deviation at the end of the first cycle was 12.589 while at the second cycle was. 7.744. Based on the assement category used, the students’ mathematical reasoning ability scores were categorized as complete in the first of the study, it can be concluded that Open Ended learning model improved students’ mathematical reasoning abilities on the subject of SPLDV in class VIIIA SMP YP PGRI 4 Makassar.
