ANALISIS MISKONSEPSI SISWA DALAM MATERI AKAR DAN PANGKAT PADA KELAS IXA SMP YP PGRI 4 MAKASSAR

Abstract
This research aims to analyze misconceptions and factors that are often done by students in solving problems, especially on the powers and roots material. This research is qualitative research with descriptive type. The subject of this research is class IXA SMP YP PGRI 4 Makassar in the odd semester in 2021/2022 academic year, totaling 32 students by focusing on only 6 students, where 2 students are in the high ability, 2 students are in the medium ability and 2 students are in the low ability. The instruments used were written tests, interviews, and questionnaires. The results showed that there were three types of misconceptions by class IXA SMP YP PGRI 4 Makassar in solving power and root problems, namely (a) classificational misconceptions,(b)correlational misconceptions, (c) theoretical misconceptions. These three misconceptions, students who experience the most misconceptions are students with low ability. The factors causing are students do not understand the material well because the teacher's explanation is too fast, students don't focus on the material, the various test questions that are not the same as the examples explained by the teacher, the student's lack of interest in learning mathematics, students feel bored when the teacher explains the material, and rarely repeat the lessons at home.
