Abstract

research (CAR) using a problem based learning model that aims to improve students' mathematical problem solving skill. The subject was class VIII SMP Bunda Kasih Sudiang for 2021/2022 academic year, involved 17 students. Data collection techniques used tests and student activities observation sheets for each cycle. Implementation of the actions carried out during two cycles. Analysis of research data by means of quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The result showed that using a problem based learning model could improve students' mathematical problem solving skill. In the first cycle the mean score was 58.35 with a standard deviation of 11.911 with a completeness of 23.52 and at the end of the second cycle it increased to 88.23% with an average of 78.59 with a standard deviation of 9.931. Based on the assessment category used, the students' mathematical problem solving skill scores in the first cycle categorized as complete were 4 students and in the second cycle there were 15 students. From the research results obtained, it can be concluded that using a problem based learning model can improve mathematical problem solving skill in class VIII students of SMP Bunda Kasih Sudiang on the material of Linear Equations of Two Variables.
