Abstract

The research aims to find out whether there is an effect of parenting style on the learning outcomes of mathematics in class VIII SMP Tamalatea Makasar in the 2018/2019 academic year. This type of research is ex-post facto research which is correlation in nature which involves two variables, namely (1) Mathematics Learning Outcomes (2) Parenting Patterns of Parents. The population and sample of this study were all Grade VIII students of SMP Tamalatea Makassar with a total of 24 students to be used as research data samples. The research data was obtained using instruments, namely the mathematics learning achievement test and the parenting pattern questionnaire. Based on the results of the analysis of descriptive statistical data, the average value of parenting was 68.67 in the good category, with a range (61-80) and mathematics learning outcomes obtained an average of 69.92 in the moderate category with a range (66-79) . Then the results of inferential statistical analysis obtained tcount <ttable then H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, in other words that parenting style had a positive effect on the mathematics learning outcomes of Grade VIII students of SMP Tamalatea Makasar with the regression equation Y = 44.614 + 0.399X, which means that if the variable X increases by one unit, the variable Y can be predicted to increase by 0.339 or 33.9% at a constant of 11.5851
