Abstract
This research is an experimental research conducted at SMP YP-PGRI 4 Makassar. This study aims to compare the mathematics learning outcomes of students who are taught through the Problem Based Learning model and the Direct Instruction Learning Model on the subject of a system of two-variable linear equations. The population is all students of class VIII SMP YP-PGRI 4 Makassar, which consists of two classes with a total of 34 students. The population size is not large, so the researcher takes all members of the population to be used as a research sample (total sampling). The sample in this study were 34 students consisting of 17 students from the experimental class and 17 students from the control class. Then a draw was drawn to determine the experimental group and the control group. Data was collected through the administration of learning achievement tests on the material system of two-variable linear equations. Management of data using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Based on the results of descriptive statistical analysis, it was concluded that the mathematics learning outcomes of students taught through the Problem Based Learning Learning Model were in the high category with an average of 77.47 and a standard deviation of 11.435, and the mathematics learning outcomes of students taught through the Direct Instruction Learning Model were at medium category with an average of 69.35 and a standard deviation of 13.294. Based on the results of the analysis above, the learning outcomes of students who are taught with the Problem Based Learning learning model are higher than the learning outcomes taught with the Direct Instruction Learning Model
