Abstract

This study aims to determine the understanding of mathematical concepts in terms of dyscalculia in SMP Negeri 3 Kotabaru students. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method that is descriptive in nature, that is, it describes objectively and actually the understanding of the concept of dyscalculia students. This type of qualitative research with data analysis through data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Data collection techniques through written tests and interviews. The research subjects consisted of 6 (six) people with the dyscalculia category. The results showed that students with the dyscalculia category at SMP Negeri 3 Kotabaru could not fulfill the 7 indicators of understanding mathematical concepts, including that students with dyscalculia did not fulfill restating a concept, for example writing down what they knew and being asked in questions, classifying objects according to characteristics, which are to mention again what are the members of the set, give examples and non-examples of the concept, namely the inability to answer questions correctly and correctly, presenting the concept in various forms of mathematical representation, namely the inability to solve problems according to the concept of the set, necessary or sufficient conditions for a concept. that is, students are unable to solve problems correctly, use and choose procedures, that is, they cannot work on questions sequentially according to the set concept and apply problem-solving concepts or algorithms, namely the inability of students to apply concepts, for example drawing a Veen diagram.
