Abstract

This study aims to determine: whether the application of the problem posing approach to class VII students of SMP YP PGRI 4 Makassar can improve mathematics learning outcomes. The population of this study was the seventh grade students of SMP YP PGRI 4 Makassar. The sample used was 23 students. The data were collected by using learning outcomes tests and observation sheets. The results showed that there was an increase in the average score of student learning outcomes which in the first cycle reached an average of 58.57 and in the second cycle of 79.91. The standard deviation of the first cycle is 12,052 and the second cycle is 5,222. Based on the completeness category of learning outcomes used, the score of students' mathematics learning outcomes categorized as complete in the first cycle with a percentage of 21.73% and in the second cycle which was categorized as complete increased by 86.95%. From these results, it can be concluded that there is an increase in mathematics learning outcomes for grade VII students of SMP YP PGRI 4 Makassar after the problem posing approach is applied. Likewise, during the learning process students' learning activities increase after the problem posing approach is applied.
