COMBINING GUIDED READING AND STUDENT TEAMS ACHIEVEMENT DIVISION (STAD) TO IMPROVE THE STUDENTS' READING COMPREHENSION AT SMA NEGERI 1 ARALLE

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out combining Guided Reading and STAD strategy in improving the students’ reading comprehension at the first grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Aralle, Kabupaten Mamasa. The method used in this research was pre-experimental method where the researcher conducted pre-test, treatment and post-test. In pre-test and post-test the researcher used reading test. The total sample was 20 students and it used purposive sampling technique. The result of this research showed that combining Guided Reading and STAD strategy can improve students’ reading comprehension. It can be proved by the mean score of post-test was higher than the mean score of pre-test (79>56). Furthermore, the result of t-test was higher than the t-table (16.78>2.093). Based on the finding and discussion of the research, it can be concluded that combining Guided Reading and STAD strategy can improve students’ reading comprehension at the first grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Aralle, Kabupaten Mamasa
